Pillar 2: Diet & Nutrition
Our goal:
Ensure that 100% of Georgia’s youth have access to affordable fresh produce, tackling the 19% of Georgians living in food deserts.
Nutrition plays a critical role in the physical and mental development of children and teens. Yet, nearly 2 million Georgia residents, including about 500,000 children, live in areas where fresh, healthy foods are not readily available. This lack of access contributes to alarming obesity rates, with nearly 34% of adults and 18% of children aged 10-17 being classified as obese. Our mission is to change this narrative by ensuring that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, has access to the nutritious foods they need to lead healthy lives.
Through strategic partnerships with local organizations, we aim to bring fresh produce and prepared meals to those in need. By working together, we can eliminate food deserts and provide children and teens with the healthy options they deserve, paving the way for a healthier future.
