Pillar 3: Physical Activity & Exercise

Our goal:

Ensure that all Georgia students engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, improving both their physical and mental well-being.

Physical activity is essential for maintaining a healthy body and mind, yet less than half of Georgia's adults engage in the recommended 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity each week. Even more concerning, only half of Georgia's high school students are physically active for the recommended 60 minutes daily. These statistics highlight a pressing need for schools to promote regular physical activity.

We believe that schools can play a pivotal role in improving these numbers by integrating more opportunities for movement throughout the day. Whether through structured PE classes, outdoor activities during lunch, or short breaks for stretching and walking, these small changes can have a significant impact. By instilling the importance of physical activity in students from a young age, we can help them develop habits that will lead to a lifetime of health and well-being.
